Inspired by the remaining 3 historical radio towers located in Annapolis, MD on Greenbury Point. These 600 foot structures have represented a navigational landmark for many boaters cruising the Chesapeake Bay since the early 1900's. During the Cold War, Greenbury Point used a combination of 19 antennas and towers to communicate with the US Navy's Atlantic submarine fleet. Rendered obsolete by advances in satellite technology, the antennas were no longer needed and 16 of them were demolished in December of 1999 sparing the remaining 3 towers for historical preservation. I remember that December day well because I was just across the bay working in my home when I felt the tremendous shock wave from the huge blast. The 3 remaining towers are now part of a 231 acred conservation area managed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Anne Arundel County. The area is also used each year as a backdrop for the Naval Academy graduation and air show celebration featuring the US Navy's Blue Angels.

Printed on Hahnemule Fine Art German Etching, 310gsm, archival paper with Symphonic Pigmented Inks.
