The Green Kiss, 2008

Pigment Print
16"x 10"
Edition of 100

I was inspired to create this piece after thinking back to a very early episode from the popular TV series Star Trek. My choice of characters from this show was in an effort to touch on the social issue of racism, and not focus so much on the actual show. I wanted to use the character better know as Captain James, T. Kirk because you could usually rely on him to kiss just about any alien woman he came across and without hesitation. He never seemed to display any type of racism towards any species. Whether she was green, yellow, had horns or was even an android, Captain Kirk was going to kiss her and show her some affection. I hoped this piece would capture one of these moments and also hope that people of all color could relate to this unbiased connection between two people, or a person and whatever or whomever?

Printed on Hahnemule Fine Art German Etching, 310gsm, archival paper with Symphonic Pigmented Inks.
