The Last Crab Feast, Poster

Dimensions are 11 x 17 inches
(Will fit in a standard size 11x17 inch frame)

This piece was inspired by the historical painting created by Leonardo da Vinci called "The Last Super". I had the idea to recreate this piece in a more modern time setting and knew right away that it should focus on a local Maryland tradition of eating crabs. Just about everyone that has attended a crab feast should be able to find someone in this print that reminds them of a certain friend or relative. Although I introduced my own set of characters into this piece, I made sure to keep the body postures very close to the original painting. Many critiques have deciphered Leonardo's "Last Super" for its hidden story or meaning and I can only hope that my version will provide them with my own story to tell. I suppose it could be my own political attempt to touch on the rapidly depleting Blue Crab population, or maybe its simply poking fun at a local backyard tradition full of a families best and worst?
